The Crossing
Almost entirely Eastern European and Filipino crews man the fuel tankers, cargo ships and ferries coming in and out of British waters. Life is monotonous as crew can be onboard for anything up to 2 years, in some cases without any contact to the outside world. In British waters only the missions set up by charities such as Apostleship of the Sea provide phones and sometimes internet for the few hours whilst they're in port.
